For over 50 years, Ceilume ceiling tiles have been used in homes, offices, stores, schools and hotels around the globe. Debuting in the 1950's, Ceilume rode the initial, post-war wave of modern interior design. Tastes and styles have changed repeatedly in the ensuing decades, and Ceilume has evolved with the times, still offering the great products and customer service that have been our hallmark for half a century.
Located in Graton, California, just an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge, Ceilume Smart Ceiling Tiles is family owned and prides itself on supporting its community, encouraging sustainability and being a good workplace for its employees. In 2007, Ceilume purchased Ceilings Magnifique, one of the most respected names in historic decorative ceilings. Ceilings Magnifique reproduction tiles have been faithfully crafted in the classic tradition by the Snelling family of Blanchard, Louisiana for the last 30 years, and Ceilume is proud to carry on that fine tradition.

What is a drop ceiling?
A drop ceiling, also known as a suspended ceiling, is composed of square or rectangular tiles hanging several inches below your existing ceiling or joists.
How is a Drop Ceiling Installed?
First, a framework of lightweight aluminum is installed in a grid-like matrix. This grid is composed of pieces called main beams and cross tees, and is hung from above by hanger wires. After the grid is installed, ceiling panels made of mineral fiber or metal are tilted up into place and are allowed to rest within individual "pockets."
Why Install a Drop Ceiling?
Because drop ceilings entirely circumvent existing ceilings, they can be used to cover up problem ceilings without the mess of demolition.
Also, because of the trapped air space above the drop ceiling, drop ceilings tend to slow the transmission of sound. As a result, these suspended ceilings are ideal for home movie theaters, offices, or play rooms for children.
