Recent research conducted by MORI Research of Minneapolis, provides solid evidence that:

• News-related activities, such as talking about current events during the teen years with parents and peers also have a significant impact on a person’s later involvement in and knowledge of public affairs
• The use of online news sources as teens is a strong predictor of future civic engagement

This school year, we’re able to provide more ways for your classroom to engage in the community with The Press Democrat’s e-edition. Here’s how:

• The paper is available to more classrooms
• There is greater access to teacher guides and worksheets
• Find information about little-known local scholarships that are available to local students
• You can seek donations that can help meet the educational needs of your student’s

Even if your classroom doesn’t have access to computers, you can print out a page or two, and copy it to use with a lesson plan.

How it works

Because there are a limited number of subscriptions, we are able to monitor the use of each subscription ensuring that the paper is being used often in classrooms. If for some reason your plans change, and you are not able to use the subscriptions provided in your classroom, we will contact you about transferring them to another classroom on our waiting list.
