Newman's J.K. Withers (10:20) won a great battle over Montgomery's K.C. Cody (10:22) and Matt Fitch (10:25) in the junior boys race. GIRLS Junior/Senior Girls Results (ezmeets)
The Junior/Senior Girls race was a hotly contested one as Oak Ridge junior Natalie White (11:30) finished just ahead of Sacred Heart senior Michelle Gallagher (11:33) and Rancho Cotate junior Phyllis Blanchard (11:38). Frosh/Soph Girls Results (ezmeets)
In the Frosh/Soph Girls race Maria Carrillo's Amy Robinson was an easy winner in 11:57. A few girls went SPRINTING to the lead of the race at the start. "I knew those girls were insane." said Robinson. After catching and passing them it was an unpressured race for Robinson. "I wish the second mile had been faster for me." said Robinson. Casa Grande sophomore Ashton LeSieur made what will probably be a rare appearance for her as she had a day of from soccer to place second in 12:10. In the first 14 years of this race 22 girls had run 12:22 or better. Today 13 ran that mark increasing the total to 30. Girls class
Teams Combining the times of the top 5 boys from each race the Vikings came out on top with a 53:51 total time compared to Redwood at 54:15 and Santa Rosa at 55:11. In the girls the Vikings were even better, destroying the old team best by Maria Carrillo last year at 62:45, with a blistering 61:24, plus three more girls under 13:00. The 2002 Carrillo team was strong as well at 63:08 with Ukiah (65:52), Alemeda (66:04) and Del Oro (66:29) all moving onto the all-time list.
