North Coast Section MOC Seed Chart
(1st mark is seed, 2nd mark is 2003 best) Seed position is based on athlete’s marks from last Saturday’s Regional finals. Top four at MOC qualify for State plus those who have a performance that meets a qualifying standard during the MOC competition. BOYS: Top Four Seeds 1st Pole Vault Matt Tillinghast, 11, Montgomery (15-0, 15-3) Miramonte seniors Graham Bockmiller (14-8, 15-4) & Clark Haworth (14-8, 14-8) should battle the Viking twins for the four spots with Casa’s Michael Sullivan (13-0, 14-3) & Steve Klop of Las Lomas (12-6, 14-0) possible threats. 3rd 200 Kyle Schmaus, 12, Santa Rosa (22.16, 22.16) Running fast at right time of the year. 3rd Discus Kevin Cooper, 12, Clear Lake (158-1, 158-1) Five in the field have gone over 153 this year. =3rd High Jump Lance Prange, 10, Santa Rosa (6-2, 6-2) & Michael Harris, 12, Montgomery (6-2, 6-2) Five in the field have cleared 6-4 this year. 4th 400 Hollywood Radford, 12, Santa Rosa (49.99, 49.99) Looking strong. A second sub 50 run should do it. 4th 3200 Ruben Mora-Roman, 12, Analy (9:29.42, 9:26.70) Five in the field have run under 9:26 4th 300IH Dan Noel, 12, Casa Grande (39.92, 39.92) Noel has the 5th best NCS time of seasonal bests. Look for the four hurdlers with their steps on to make it. 4th PV Mike Tillinghast, 11, Montgomery (14-0, 15-0¾) See above. Not seeded high but with excellent chances. Regan Masi, 12, Montgomery 800 (1:59.99, 1:55.65) Has the number two NCS time this year. David Wellman, 12, Maria Carrillo 800 (1:58.36, 1:56.11) Has the number four NCS time. Six in the field have run under 1:57 this year. J.K. Withers, 11, C. Newman 1600 (4:32.04, 4:20.99) Matt Fitch, 11, Montgomery 1600 (4:34.94, 4:21.68) Only Carey Matthews, 12, De La Salle (4:20.90, 4:20.90) has a better seasonal best in field. Jacob Baguley, 12, Ukiah 300IH (40.68, 39.63) Has the number two NCS seasonal best. See above. GIRLS: Top Four Seeds 1st 3200 Phyliss Blanchard, 11, Rancho (10:50.66, 10:50.66) Main challenge will be Lindsay Allen, 11, College Park (11:09.85, 10:48.90) who defeated her at Viking Classic and Ukiah’s Shelby Leland. Allen is entered in the 1600 (5:04.79, 4:57.64), which she did not run at the Viking. Blanchard ran the 1600 first at Viking but will run only 3200 here. =1st HJ Mindi Wiley, 9, Sonoma (5-4, 5-10) Besides Wiley only Allison Falk, 10, San Ramon Valley (5-4, 5-8) in the field has gone higher than 5-4 this year. 2nd 3200 Shelby Leland, 11, Ukiah (10:53.07, 10:53.07) Looks solid to go on. Defeated Blanchard at NBL. 2nd 1600 Kimmy Conley, 11, Montgomery (5:04.8, 5:01.7) Running well. Watch for more than four to go under 5:01.50 automatic time and qualify for state. 2nd Shot Put Melissa Van Paris, 11, Sonoma (40-3¾, 41-2½) One put over 40 should earn a trip to state. 4th 200 Whitney Leachman, 11, Elsie Allen (25.52, 25.52) Should be right in the thick of it. 4th Discus Melissa Van Paris, 11, Sonoma (132-4, 132-4) Eight girls in field have gone over 130 this year. Not seeded high but with excellent chances. Amy Robinson, 10, Maria Carrillo could easily surprise in the 1600 (5:12.83, 5:06.4) or 3200 (11:25.76, 11:18.9). Mary Shibata, 11, Ukiah (15.82, 15.17) (47.71, 46.4) Good race could grab a spot in hurdles. Melissa Adams, 12, Rancho Cotate PV (8-0, 11-6) If she can clear 11 should make the big show. Whitney Leachman, 11, Elsie Allen LJ (16-4, 17-8) Only two in field have gone farther than her this year. Some of the others waiting in the wings to pounce on a spot.
