MONTGOMERY WINS BATTLE OF UNBEATENS IN NBL TRACK 

   It was a bad day in general for Santa Rosa High Wednesday and a bad one in particular for Panther senior Jack Nestler.
   Santa Rosa lost its showdown meet at home against Montgomery, the boys falling, 72-51, and the girls losing, 81-55.
   The win gives the Vikings a 7-0 record and seven points compared to 6-1 and six points for SR. In next week's 
North Bay League meet at Maria Carrillo, the winner gets three points, the second-place school two.
   The NBL trials are Wednesday with no marks carrying over to Friday.
   The All-City Meet at SR's Nevers Field is this Friday, with the five city schools, plus Cardinal Newman and 
Ursuline, SR Christian and RV Christian.
   Nestler was delayed getting to Wednesday's big meet because he was taking an AP Honors test. He missed the shot, 
where he would have been one of the favorites, but just made it in time for the 110 hurdles.
   But after dressing in a rush, Nestler fell at the third hurdle, injuring his right shoulder.
   SR coach Doug Courtemarche said the extent of the injury is unknown, although Nestler did compete in the discus, 
throwing it left-handed and taking third.
   Running marks were generally average because of the steady rain, although the Viking girls ran an Empire Best 
50.1 in the 4x100 relay. Field marks were below average.
   Marshall Olin won four events for the Panthers, the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump and triple jump.
