By RICH RUPPRECHT GETTING TO THE MEET ON TIME It was quite a week for Santa Rosa track competitor Jack Nestler. Nestler was late to Wednesday's crucial Montgomery-Santa Rosa dual track meet because of an AP Honors test in school. Nestler literally changed on the track and was still adjusting his track uniform when the 110 high hurdles started. Nestler went down hard over a hurdle and hurt his shoulder. Still, knowing points were valuable, Nestler competed in the discus, throwing left-handed and finishing third. Still a little sore at Friday's All-City meet, Nestler finished second in four events (110HH, shot, discus and 4x100 relay). Santa Rosa coach Doug Courtemarche said every team needs someone like Nestler. ``He's so competitive and he's good with the younger kids,'' the coach said. Courtemarche also said Nestler has been known to break hurdles in races. ``He's not the prettiest hurdler,'' the coach added. ``When he's in the hurdles, it's the loudest race in the world.'' TIME FOR THE POSTSEASON This weekend kicks off the bulk of the spring postseason, with NBL and SCL track and swimming championships. The NBL track championships include prelims at 4 p.m. Wednesday and finals Friday (field events at 3, running events at 4) at Maria Carrillo. The SCL track and field championships include prelims at 1 p.m. Thursday and finals at 10 a.m. Saturday at Petaluma.
