2005 REDWOOD EMPIRE ALL-EMPIRE CROSS COUNTRY BOYS RUNNER OF THE YEARMike Perez Lower Lake, senior Costal Mountain Conference Champion 4th State Meet division IV Perez started the year off with a bang winning the Senior boys race at the Viking Opener by over 30 seconds. Perez never lost a race to another Empire runner during the 2006 season. He won Coastal Mountain Conference and had the fastest times by anyone from the area by over 15 seconds at both the NCS and State Championships. His 4th place finish at State gave him the best placing ever by a Redwood Empire boy in division IV. His 16:04 time in the meet has only been bettered by 9 Empire runners over the last 19 years.
