SR GRAD STAMPS STILL WINNING 

   Julia Stamps, 27, entered the world of marathon running by way of ... a skateboard.
   The three-time Empire Large-School Athlete of the Year (1995-'96-'97) saw her career 
as a 1,500- and 3,000-meters runner end with a serious injury on a skateboard in 2001.
   So, what did she do? She started running longer distances and Sunday, in just her 
fourth marathon, she joined 15,000 other runners and finished the San Francisco Marathon 
in 2 hours, 54 minutes, 55 seconds -- fastest among female competitors. That was far 
from her best time of 2:46:17.
   ``I tried to run conservatively, because I heard there were hills in this race,'' she 
said ``It's definitely a challenging course.''
   Who knows where this new running career will take the Santa Rosa High and Stanford 
graduate, who now resides in New York City?
   But one thing is for sure. There will be no skateboard marathons in her future.
