The Press Democrat In the girls’ pole vault, Ursuline junior Michelle Stone, who finished second, went 11 feet, 3 inches to top her personal-best by one inch. She also moved from fifth into a tie for third on the all-time Empire list. Petaluma junior Kaleb Trembley picked the perfect time to unleash his personal-best leap in the triple jump Friday at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions at Cal’s Edwards Stadium. Due to their performances, Stone and Trembley advanced to the CIF State Track and Field Championships next week in Clovis. Windsor senior Mike Tracy also advanced to state with a fourth-place finish in the high jump. The top four in each event at the MOC advance to state. The preliminaries were held in most events Friday, but finals were held in six events, including the girls’ pole vault, the boys’ triple jump and boys’ high jump. It has been quite a month for Stone. On May 9, she broke a meet record at the Santa Rosa City Meet with a vault of 11-1. Last week, she won the pole vault at the Redwood Empire Championships with a personal-best of 11-2. Similarly, Trembley is peaking at an opportune time. He entered Friday seeded sixth in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 44-11. But he went 45-0½ Friday to finish fourth in the event and earn his first trip to the state meeet. Tracy, whose personal-best clearance of 6-9 is the best in Northern California this season, went 6-4 to earn his second trip to state. Tracy, who has signed with Cal, was competing at the track he will compete at next year. In the prelims, where the top eight finishers advanced to today’s finals, Casa Grande junior Jacque Taylor had the top time in the 1,600 meters and Santa Rosa’s Rory McLeod finished second in the boys’ 1,600 meters. In the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, Healdsburg senior Eric Arneson, seeded eighth, finished second in a personal-best time of 39.42 and Maria Carrillo junior Jeremy Thompson placed third in a personal-best of 39.52. Healdsburg senior Dante Fountain placed third in the 200 meters and seventh in the 100 meters, Petaluma junior Isabel Andrade finished fourth in the 1,600 meters, Piner freshman Dezirae Johnson finished seventh in the 400 meters and Piner freshmen Kyra Johnson placed seventh in the 300 hurdles. In the boys’ discus finals, Santa Rosa sophomore Travis Baker, the Empire leader in the event with a toss of 161-6, finished eighth with a throw of 147-8.
