POLE VAULT SUMMIT
Matt Tillinghast, a sophomore at Montgomery High, set one of the all-time best sophomore pole vaulting marks in the Empire at an indoor meet in Reno.
Tillinghast vaulted 13-6 to win his division of the Reno Pole Vault Summit. Brother Michael vaulted 12-5 to take his division.
The 13-6 mark ties Tillinghast for second on the sophomore list with Jim Seivert of Santa Rosa from 1984. Rene Loraine of Petaluma holds the 10th grade best from 1993 at 13-10, and set the all-time record at 15-9 in 1995.
