NCS MOC Notes Day 2

Go Redwood Empire.

Eleven individuals in 13 events plus the Maria Carrillo girls
1600 relay team will be heading to state.

I was not at the meet but from looking at the results it
looks like Melissa Adams, RC, had a berth in hand after clearing
10-9 and then went on to take second with a new PR 11-3 in PV.
Equal to number two vault ever in Empire.

In the boys triple jump after a winning meet record of 49-3.25,
by Welch of St. Mary's, four athletes were within 2.5 inches
of each other for the last 3 spots. Maurice White, RC ,was the top
of that close heap taking second at 44-10.75. Yesterday White
won the LJ at 23-0. Jacob Baguley, Ukiah, was the top underclassman
in 6th at 43-5.5.

Seven ladies cleared 5-2 in the high jump but only Kristen Andre,
Kelseyville, and one other went higher with Andre taking second at 5-3.

Jenny Aldridge, MC, has been having her best season ever and her
4:50.18 1600 win shows she is ready for anyone at State.
Aldridge won over Sara Bei at State in 2000 in 4:49.63. Amy
Robinson, MC, continued to drop her time cracking the five minute
barrier with a 4:59.99 for fourth. Robinson becomes only fifth Empire
runner to ever go sub 5. In the past Robinson would have been the
last qualifier but new time standards let in anyone under 5:02.73
so Ashton LeSieur, Casa, will go on from 5th place after another PR
of 5:01.53. Moves her to sixth all-time in Empire ahead of Trina Cox.
Thanks to 4 straight years by Sara Bei and 1 by Julia Stamps
the NBL has now won the NCS MOC 1600 six straight years.

Jordan Kinley, Carrillo, is off to State once again with his 4th
place in 4:17.53. J.K. Withers, Newman, was the top underclassman
in 5th. Withers 4:21.70 yesterday moved him behind just Kinley and
Ryan Mack on the all-time Sophomore list and ahead of Dan Aldridge
and Steve Guerrini.

Jenni Kincheloe, El Molino, lowered her day old school record
with a State meet berth 4th in 44.87. Only Wendi Simmons 43.27
and Katie Schukle 43.40, both of Santa Rosa, have ever gone faster
in the Empire.

Jake Arnold, Carrillo, has a second event to compete in at State
after taking 2nd in PV 15-0 yesterday with a 3rd today in the 300
hurdles in 39.81. Probably a good thing because Arnold has
probably not competed in just one event all year.

The NBL had won the girls MOC 3200 the last eight years with
Bei and Stamps. Both Amber Trotter and Jenny Aldridge looked
to possibly continue this but with both not running this event
Shelby Leland, Ukiah, nearly kept it alive with a second place
finish in a huge PR of 10:37.32. Leland was the top underclassman
and moved to number five all-time behind Bei, Stamps, Trotter and
Cox.

Last but not least the Maria Carrillo girls 1600 relay is off
to State again with a 4th place finish in 3:59.68.

Yesterday, along with White and Arnold, Melissa Van Paris, Sonoma,
made State in the Shot Put.

Congradulations and good luck at State to our Empire stars.
