Kathy Van Riper She still holds the school record at 3200m 11:06.0. Sonoma Track and Field Hall of Fame Kathy ran for Sonoma HS as Kathy Dalton and graduated in 1987. After winning the SCL XC finals in 1985 by what is still the largest margin of victory in SCL history, 2 minutes, she repeated in 1986 to win by 1:58. The Spring Lake course back in 1986 was a 5,000m course. Her 18:00 winning time is still the 11th fastest 5k ever run in the Empire and only State champion's Sarah Sumpter (17:26) and Jacque Taylor (17:29) have run faster from the SCL.
