Oakland Relays
The Oakland Relays produced a number of seasonal bests for Empire athletes.
Montgomery sophomore Matt Tillinghast increased his class record record in the Pole Vault soaring to 14 feet 6 inches for 2nd place.
That mark surpasses Nate Guido's school record of 14-5. Guido is the current Viking vault coach.
Jordan Kinley's 3rd place 1600 time of 4:15.63 for Maria Carrillo equaled the performance he turned in at the Stanford Mile.
Viking Nick Cho bettered his own Prep best in the high hurdles with a 15.66 clocking.
Tyler Guillory of Piner did the same in the discus with a 158-6 throw.
The Carrillo boys Sprint Medley pulled off a nice 3rd place finish, while the girls teams grabed a 2nd in Distance Medley and 3rd in 4x800.
Phyllis Blanchard of Rancho Cotate had a great double taking 3rd in the 3200 and 4th in 1600.
In the girls vertical jumps Kristen Andre of Kelseyville scaled 5-2 in the high jump for second while Melissa Adams of Rancho and Emily Flores of Santa Rosa tied for 2nd in the vault at 10-6.

Jenny Hunt placed third in the 10K (37:22.91), a provisional national qualifying mark, at the Johnny Mathis Invitational at San Francisco State.
SSU's Kelly Russell was fifth in the 10K at 38:14.62.
SSU's Annie Branco won her heat of the 800 with a personal best of 2:20.46.
JC TRACK
Santa Rosa JC's Tia DeSoto won the hammer (175-1) and the discus (133-0) at the Johnny Mathis Invitational.
SRJC was the only junior college competing against four-year colleges.
